I have an older set and the mask is definitely molded plastic. The sweater has one folded over tag which says: Made in China for the Pleasant Company 1988 Pleasant Company and the number 3395 next to the seam.
I looked at your tag and it looks just like mine except it looks as if yours wasn't sewn into to the seam well. Maybe yours got past quality control? As for the mask, it is definitely not the original one.
Hope this helps,
Melissa

I bought my molly halloween costume from AG when they very first came out and my mask is exactly like the one in the picture. They changed it to the molded plastic at some point.
I'm at work now so I'll have to wait until tonight to check the sweater.
The mask in Molly's Route 66 book is child sized. It even fits on my face, so the one you have there is for sure not the Route 66 one.
I'll try to find an early catalog picture of Molly's Halloween outfit from when it was first introduced along with Kirsten's dirndle and Sam's play dress.
So don't worry about the mask at least

I have a picture from the catalog. I will look for it and email it to you, Joy.

I got out an old catalog from 1991 and the picture in it shows the flat mask too. I will dig out my sweater and see what the tag looks like later. Robin, if you can't find your picture I can scan this one for Joy to see.

Yup, that's exactly what mine lookslike too. I'll have to try to figure out when it changed and add it to my guide. That is if the guide ever gets up and running again. ARGGG
I love all of your old catalog scans. It's so great seeing all of the old covers that I remember growing up. I love looking though it every now and then.
The good nes is that I think my husband i trying to switch the computer that the guide is hosted off of so maybe it will start working again soon. I was able to add all the new outfits and acc. as well as MArisol.

don't get too attached to the catalog album! Imagestation keeps shutting me down and I may be in violation of their copyright rule though they never had a problem before, so I may take the album down.

Good lead. I'll check mine too. Thanks.
In the meantime, I have posted more photos in my "Show and Tell" Imagestation album, which show other Pleasant Company tags which are from the same era, and which seem to be more authentic.

Thanks everyone! This is all very reassuring.
I think the reason that I keep having trouble looking at any of the albums, including my own, has something to do with my anti-virus protection, or at least Customer Service implied that when they were starting the trouble-shooting process with me. It seems that they've changed everything since I was last on there. Frustrating!
Did anyone have a chance yet to check the tag(s) on their first-edition sweaters?

Well, here's my update....
"Cleopatra of the Nile" checked her tag and found that she does have the double tags, marked 1988.
Meg, do you have any word regarding what your tag looks like yet? (hope hope it's like mine)
